LARSON & SMITH @ THE HOLE

The Hole Presents
Caroline Larson's "Kabloom" - Adam Parker Smith's
"Oblivious the Greek" runs June 11 - July 24, 2016
The Hole - 312 Bowery, NYC.

Dispensing paint through a pastry tube with varying nibs,
Larson is able to layer and weave colors together, sometimes
blending them within the same extrusion. Her technique can
produce variety of effects, from pointillism in the weaves to a
jewel-like sculptural relief in the plants. The pieces are composed
either top-down, left to right, or a block by block patterning.

Smith's sculptures in this exhibition are humanoid stacks
of resinated mylar balloons balanced on faux garden rocks
and surrounded by pea gravel. Weightless looking, but quite solid,
the sculptures illusion buoyancy mimics dynamism.
